The success story continues ...

After 1 year operation, we proudly like to announce, that the whole project was a big success. Even though, that the sustainability was the main issue, we think that the most outstanding succss is, that in the last graduation 6 out of 10 students passed the requierements set by the Department of Education. In the years before it was 3.8 out of 10 or less. This showes us that the project has a big impact on education.

School
  • 90% of all teachers are computer literates

  • 90% of all students are computer literates

  • IT education established in curricula

  • 3 hours IT education (daily) - 1h per student/week

  • High School Ranking - Achievment Level (Bohol)
    • from place 84 -> 34 (in 1 year) - out of 115 Highschools
    • that means 6 out of 10 students are able to reach the requierements set by Department for Education (formerly 3.8 out of 10)
    • tendency still going up
Equipment
  • Solarequipment
Except of the usual mainenance (refill batteries and wipe the panels) the whole system is stable.
There was only 1 day when the system switched off, because of empty batteries. Anyway, 1 day out of 365 ... that is quiet acceptable we guess and it showed us, that the system works fine and the automatically switch off mechanism is working.

  • Computer laboratory
The whole equipment is still running. No problems encountered so far
  • Internet connection
Except of the first month, where we had some minor adjustments to make the Internet connection is stable and always available

Sustainability

  • Project is fully sustainable
The school is able to to pay the montly internet fees and maintaining the solar system and the computer laboratory with the income generated from the internet cafe and school fees

  • Students fee
The PTCA (Parents and Teacher Association) agreed to collect computer usage fee now from all students not only from 3rd and 4th year students -> additional income
