14 December Original Batteries installed
ANEC and MATEC Inc installed the original and final 24 lead-acid Batteries
6-7 December ICT Forum - Basic Education
  • 2 staff from Cabilao National Highschool joined the Philippines 1st Information and Communication Technology Forum held in Cebu
  • On this event we also presented the project to the audience

November 2004
29-30 November e-Learning Training
2 instructors from CITE held a 2 days e-Learning Training
1. day - e-Learning Administration (5 participants)
2. day - e-Learning Overview (12 participants)

October 2004
25-30 October IT Trainers Training
2 instructors from CITE held a 1 week IT Teachers training for 12 Cabilao National Highschool teachers.
10 - 24 October TV coverage
Channel 28 a Cebu based TV channel covered the inauguration and showed a 5 minute spot about the project for 2 weeks

September 2004
18 September Inauguration
The project was inaugurated in the presence of Congressman Edgar M. Chatto, Mayor Yul Lopez, Principal Mario Garcia, Roy Zapata (CITE), representatives of the Department for Education, representatives from the German Development Service and the whole project team. 100s of locals were joining that event, where the school prepared a lot of dances and local traditions.

17 September Networking of computer laboratory

All computers were networked and connected to the internet.

14 September Installation of Satellite Internet connection

A 128 Kbps Internet Satellite connection was sucessfully installed.


11 September Installing and Testing Computer laboratory

5 computers where installed and tested. The system works perfect. Even better than expected :)


6-11 September Administrators Training at CITE

2 Teachers and the administrator of the internet cafe did a 1 week administrators training at CITE.


7-9 September Installation Solar equipment (part II)

3 CITE DTS students are helping ANEC to install the remaing 8 solar panels and do the wiring. After that we connected the inverter, filled the batteries and did the final wiring. The 2 days work is under supervison of Jun Sta. Ana and Jun Cortez from MATEC (Manila).

August 2004
26 - 28 August Installation of Solar equipment (part I)

4 CITE DTS students are helping ANEC to install the solar panels and do the wiring. The 3 days work is under supervison of Jun Sta. Ana from MATEC (Manila).

We are still waiting for the inverter and 8 more panels. Due to heavy storm in Manila this equipment will come 1 week delayed.

19 August 2004 Arrival of Solar equipment
The whole Island is exited. Principal Mario Garcia and the barangay captains are helping to bring the equipment from the pier to the school. Students from Cabilao National Highschool are unoading the equipment.
June 2004
30 June Arrival of Computer equipment
4 Computers and 1 printer where delivered to the school. 2 additional computer and 1 printer where donated from the congressman.
May 2004
30 May First Committee Meeting
The committee is in place and held the first meeting. Committee members are Mayor Yul Lopez (LGU), Principal Mario Garcia (CNHS), Franz Baumann (Local Tourism Board), 1 member form PTCA and the school treasurer. (CITE and DED are only part time members and will drop out after 1 year).
March 2004
30 March Infrastructure in place
The LGU (local government unit) built up in less than 3 month, the battery house, the computer laboratory and the fencing for the solar panels.

21 January Kick off Meeting

Kick off Meeting for the project was held at Polaris Dive and Beach Resort in Cabilao with Mayor Yul Lopez, Principal Mario Garcia, Roy Zapata (CITE), John Sombero (CITE), Franz Baumann (local tourism board), Jens Funk (DED) and 2 guys from ANEC (Affiliated Nonconventional Energy Center)
